There are certain moments in life when you just want to pause. When we received the news that restaurant LIZZ* has been included in the prestigious Toques d’Or Guide, that was one of those moments. In the Netherlands, only De Librije and De Swaen were part of this culinary selection – and now we are too. What an incredible honor!
The road to this point has been one of dedication, making choices, and always staying true to our vision. From the opening of LIZZ* at Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda, we’ve focused on cooking with respect for the product, with love for the craft, and with attention to sustainability. No gimmicks, no artificial additives – just pure, honest, refined cuisine.
When Chef Remco Kuijpers joined our team, it was a natural fit. His refined style, his craftsmanship, and his strong vision on flavor and quality aligned seamlessly with what LIZZ stands for. And beyond that, Remco is simply a great person. Together, we’ve continued to grow – and in 2023, that growth was rewarded with a Michelin star.
And now, we’ve also been recognized by Toques d’Or – an international distinction that celebrates artisan cuisine: gastronomy without artificial aromas, without chemical additives, and with a deep appreciation for the land and the ingredients it provides. This philosophy perfectly mirrors our own. That’s why we look forward to a long and meaningful collaboration with Toques d’Or!
