the Xmas Lighting Event at Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda.
On Thursday 19 November, we’ll count down together, raise our glasses, and celebrate as thousands of lights are switched on.
And traditions? We like to add something extra to them every year.

Of course, we’ll welcome you with a glass of glühwein (because it really warms you up). Indoors or outdoors? That depends on the weather either way, we’ll make sure it’s cosy!

When the time comes, we’ll count down together, raise our glasses and toast as thousands of lights are switched on. For some of us, this is a cherished tradition, while for others it may be their first time… but either way it marks the start of the most wonderful time of the year!

Following the Christmas lights ceremony, you will dine at LIZZ*, enjoying an exclusive three-course menu created by the Michelin-starred chef, Remco Kuijpers. This VIP package promises a magical evening of fine dining.
X-MAS LIGHTING EVENT ✨
17:30 — A WINTER WELCOME
We’ll welcome you to the beautifully decorated courtyard of the Weeshuis. It’s time for Glühwine and warm winter drinks, Christmas carols from the choir and/or a storyteller, and above all: enjoying the winter atmosphere together.
A lovely moment to look around, meet one another and really get into the Christmas spirit.
In the event of bad weather, we’ll move the winter welcome to the Refter.
18:50 — ALMOST TIME…
We’ll gather by the Weeshuis’s historic façade.
19:00 UUR — THE XMAS LIGHTING CEREMONY
Here we go.

Christmas is officially ON. ✨
For guests who have this part included in their package, we’ll round off the moment in festive style with some bubbly.
And afterwards? For our VIP guests, the evening continues at LIZZ* for dinner.
