Gouda by Candlelight is one of the oldest light festivals in the Netherlands and marks the enchanting start of the Christmas season.
On December 12, 2025, around 1,500 real candles will glow behind the windows of the historic town hall in the evening.
You’ll enjoy live music, performances, and the heartwarming charm of a true winter celebration.
The highlight of the evening? The lighting of the grand Christmas tree on the Markt square between 7:00 and 8:00 PM — an annual gift from our Norwegian sister city, Kongsberg.
