In 2021, we opened Relais & Châteaux Weeshuis Gouda containing fine dining restaurant LIZZ*.
We were convinced of one thing, we wanted to offer quality in everything that stimulates the senses of our guests. It had to be a place where the most vulnerable human quality is nurtured: empathy. In doing so, we wanted to surprise and pamper people. So pulling out all the stops to make that happen.

This is how we approach Restaurant LIZZ* as a triptych. There is history, a rich history of the stately former Orphanage from 1542, a fascinating story. In addition, we have chosen a special interior, typically Gouds, because everything is inspired by Gouds Plateel. A private collection of the owners; Lennart and Sharon van Gastel. Then there are the dishes. A classic French cuisine, locally grounded with Eastern spices and fruit. And finally there are the wines, which have a traditional French base but, thanks to Louis, come from unexpected regions, countries and areas. Whatever is not too obvious, Louis finds interesting to present.

Enjoy a La Vie en Rose reception on arrival and then discover what Gouda has to offer. Enjoy the 4-course “LIZZ Favorites” menu in fine-dining restaurant LIZZ* including wine package with our finest premium wines, ending with coffee or tea with friandises. End the night in one of our lovely rooms. The next day starts with a sumptuous breakfast in the Regentenkamer.
