14 October 2023 is the day again: Zotte Zaterdag! This is an annual festival where Gouda goes back in time, to the 16th century, the time of basket weavers, beer makers and jesters. In the historic city centre, you can enjoy zany performances, take part in the various activities or visit the medieval craft market!
Even though things were not always rosy in the history of the national monument, the old Weeshuis is still considered one of the city’s most special and beautiful buildings today. The romantic inner garden, the red shutters and the iconic gateway; WSHS has a very special place in the hearts of many Gouda residents. WSHS is the perfect place to stay during this historic event.
Enjoy a welcoming reception with coffee/tea on our terrace. After this, explore the city, where from 11:00-16:00, all kinds of activities will take place. At 12:30 you will be expected at WSHS for a delicious Afternoon Tea. For dinner, we recommend booking a table at our fine dining restaurant LIZZ*. End this beautiful day by spending the night in one of our fine rooms. The next morning, a sumptuous breakfast will be waiting for you in our most historic Regentenkamer and your fine stay will come to an end.
